thailand

So we had our big adventure to Thailand over Christmas break. We got to see lots of people, places and things. It was definitely a cool experience, but I have to say I'm not itchin to make the 20+ hour plane trip there again anytime soon :) Other than the travelling itself, the trip went great and we had a ton of fun! We went to Bangkok and Chiang Mai. My favorite was Chiang Mai which is where we spent the majority of our time. It was a city up north that was right by these beautiful green jungly mountains. And it was cooler weather and it had elephants :)

On our first day we were in Bangkok which is a HUGE city. Parker took me to this big market thing. They had markets everywhere. They seriously sell anything and everything under the sun in Thailand (and for cheap!) I got to   try some cool fruit on our trip including the hairy strawberry looking thing below. Also I had a dragon fruit which you can't tell because the lighting in our hotel room sucked, but it was the prettiest brightest fuchsia color ever.

While in Bangkok Parker made sure to take me on every mode of transportation possible. We got around on by taxi, tuk tuk (1st picture down), sky train, subway, motorcylce, boat, and walking through some ca-razy Bangkok traffic.

We got to see a lot of people from Parker's mission. They were all very happy to see that he hadn't gotten fat haha and wanted to know where our kids were. We promised to have some by the next time we visit ;) The people we met were more than gracious and welcomed us happily into their meetings or homes.

We got to go to church a couple times while we were there. It was really cool to be able to experience that the church is the same everywhere. I've always known that it is true and the same everywhere, but being all the way across the world and feeling that same Spirit and seeing how the meetings and doctrine really are exactly the same was pretty neat.

Parker's favorite part was the food. My favorite part was the elephants. We went to an elephant training camp where we got to ride a bamboo raft down a river in the beautiful mountains of Chiang Mai, ride an ox cart (random I know), and of course see lots and lots of elephants! I was so giddy about how up close and personal I was able to get with them. It was the best ever. Get ready for an overload of elephant pictures.

Okay so this picture pretty much shows how excited I was.

we fed the elephants that sugar cane and bananas.

elephants have old man hair. who knew?

And here is a bunch of other touristy places and things that we got to see but I don't want to bother writing about them :)

Christmas Eve Dinner

Outside our hotel

Parker took me on a surprise riverboat dinner for Christmas

Merry Xmas was everywhere.

Parker had to take a picture of this "squatter". The name pretty much says it all. No toilet paper.

Beautiful Orchids

Just one of the many translated to "English" signs that were painful to read.

And finally, on the totally miserable and unbearable plane ride there I felt like I had a fever and then when we got to Bangkok I still felt really crappy so I got to pay a nice visit to the hospital. It was an international hospital and was actually pretty nice. Turns out I had tonsillitis.  The doctors sure know how to hook you up there. She gave me about 8 different prescriptions  The nurse who was giving them to me said "I think she got all your sickness." haha it was hilarious.
